A recent decision in the SA magistrates’ court reinforces the utter confusion over SWMS and high-risk construction work. The incident involved a worker being struck by a high-pressure hose while cleaning a concrete pumping hose. The magistrate and Safe Work SA stated that the work was high-risk construction work for which a SWMS was required. If anyone can identify concrete pumping in the defined HRCW in the Regulations, please let me know. Here is the list https://lnkd.in/g2Jyd8Yh
Please don’t say that this task is work that is carried out on or near pressurised gas mains or piping, as this relates to managing the risk of explosion from damaged gas lines.
Training, yes; procedures, perhaps; SWMS, no.
