In November 2023 Safe Work Australia issued a case study ostensibly to further explain and provide assistance to understanding the 4 Principles of WHS guidance previously issued in May 2023.
Sadly, the guidance continues to misinterpret the legislation and poorly and inaccurately explain the duties owed by Principal Contractors. It therefore does little to provide effective guidance to achieve compliance with WHS legislation in respect of contractor safety management.
It is, in fact, likely to lead to the continuation of unnecessary and confusing contractor safety management arrangements which add cost and burden to workplaces but do little to improve or impact positively on safety.
