The 4 Pillars of Contractor Safety Management

I presented a webinar yesterday in conjunction with the Australian Institute of Health and Safety setting out the simplest and most effective formula for managing contractor safety. It improves safety, massively reduces administration and correctly reflects how the law is applied to the contractor/ PC relationship. The framework uses 4 pillars to
1 – Prequalify contractors – to establish the legal relationship, clarify roles and set expectations. It does not collect safety management documentation, which is a meaningless process
2- Onboard contractors – focusing on informing contractors of the risks posed to them by the PC’s operations and how these risks as managed NOT telling contractors how to their job or manage their risks.
3 – Monitoring – Real time monitoring of compliance with information issued during inductions and assurances made during prequalification, and restricts monitoring only to what you are actually competent to monitor
Performance review – using information from monitoring and deciding if you will continue to use a contractor.
Simples! but remember I have spent 10 years developing the content and this model so it can be a bit tricky. If you want help just let me know.
